The Effect of Strategic Purchasing on Supplier Development and Performance
Purpose: The aim of this article is to introduce the effect of strategic purchase (SP) on the suppliers’ development (SD) and purchasing performance. Design/methodology/approach: The research method is causal applied one and in order to gather data, the questionnaire was used under field method. The questionnaires were distributed among 241 companies among the suppliers of Imam Khomeini Oil Refinery Company of Shazand. Method of data analysis is also Structural Equation Modeling. Findings: this study indicate that there is significant evidence to support the hypothesized model in which SP a direct influence on SD practices and purchasing performance, as well as an indirect impact on purchasing performance mediated through SD. Research limitations/implications: Further research is necessary to increase our understanding of a buyer’s strategic purchasing and supplier development practices and more specifically how suppliers could develop a supporting environment to facilitate the strategic alignment of these two concepts. The limitations of the survey are also discussed. Practical implications: The findings from this study provide supplying firms with an understanding of how buying firms use SD to deploy their SP initiatives in order to achieve improvements in purchasing performance. Originality/value: While there is some literature analyzing SP and the implications for buyer-supplier relationships, the relationship between SP and SD practices and their effect on purchasing performance has not been yet analyzed.

In order to collect information pertaining to corporate social responsibility, a questionnaire was used containing questions on social responsibility regarding customers, employees, the environment and institutions within the society; corporate financial performance was measured using the Return on Assets (ROE). For this purpose 71 companies were examined in the time span from 2009 to 2013. To analyze the data, statistical regression was applied. Results of the research indicate the presence of a relationship between financial performance and the social responsibility towards customers and the environment, while no significant relationship was observed between the employees and social institutions. The present research shall assist managers in developing effective websites related to corporate social responsibility in order to achieve superior financial performance in the long term. The Relationship Between Granite Stone and Lung Cancer in Iranian Homes Kitchen
Radon is a radioactive noble gas that can be produced from the decay of radium and detected by special devices. In the air, radon compounds stick to the dust particles and other suspended particles and enter into the human body through breathing. Granite is suitable for covering the interior spaces of kitchens due to its beauty, hardness and high strength. On the other hand, radon emission and the increased risk of lung cancer due to the use of granite have created serious concerns. Therefore, in this study the radon emission rate by these stones has been investigated. Results obtained using CR-39 detector and PRASSI device show that the excessive use of granite in the kitchen without proper ventilation will increase residents’ lung cancer rates.

The Evaluation of Urban Management Readiness Level in Moving Toward Information System Management (Case Study: Baharestan Municipality)
In the current world, IT provided effectiveness and efficiency of information. According to the studies, IT increases the ability of the organizations and facilitates the administrative trend and increase of output of human resources and management. By the increase of control on management information systems, the speed and quality of decision making and management are increased. Like other phenomenon, the selection of the best system based on the underlying conditions of the organization is a vital principle. As any decision making and policies to develop the organization in using the management information systems requires awareness of the current preparation of the organizations, we required an evaluation model to be aware of the preparation in the organizations to move toward information systems. Low Number of Patent Applications in Indonesia: Patents in the Knowledge-Based Economy
In Indonesia, currently, public awareness on patent rights is very low. This can be seen from the low number of patent applications in Indonesia. In fact, Indonesia already has a regulation on patent which provides legal protection to inventors of technology. Data from the Directorate General of Intellectual Property Rights the Ministry of Law and Human Rights have revealed the number of foreign patents filed in Indonesia in 2012 has reached 6,212 applications. This indicates current domestic market, particularly technologicalproducts, is practically “monopolized” by foreign players. TRIPs aim at protecting and enforcing law on intellectual property right to encourage the innovation, transfer, and deployment of technology, the achievement of mutual benefits for technology creators and users, by ways that create social and economic wellbeing and balance between rights and obligations. Creations and innovations in technology of a country bring prosperity and economic development for the community. With the patent right, the creations and innovations in technology of a country bring prosperity and economic development for the community. This study tends to identify the low level of Indonesian awareness to act in patent's registration. The methodology used is this study is document analysis. Reviewing relevant documents pertaining to the questions rose in the study. The results show that patent's law is not yet properly functioning as refer to a tool of economic development. The results in line with the fact that patent's right in Indonesian yet purposed by government to only normative and fulfillment of ratification of TRIPS Agreement.
